At The Drive-In is now operational...
Another of my favourite bands from the 90s, At The Drive-In, have announced they are reuniting for some festival dates. Not sure how I feel about this one since I actually have come to love Cedric and Omar's post ATDI band The Mars Volta more and they have a new, long-waited album called Noctourniquet coming out soon so hopefully it won't interfere with that.
I'm sure it's just a big cash grab since they are friends again and the festival circuit, especially big ones like Coachella, pays a hell of a lot of money so you certainly can't blame them for that. It will be interesting at the very least to see what they are like playing together again after all these years on. I can't imagine it will be as great as when I saw them playing the Astoria in 2001 which I still regard as one of the greatest gigs I've ever witnessed. That show was actually filmed for MTV2 and some kind soul has uploaded some of it on YouTube. You can catch a taster below:
