The forgotten power-pop goodness of Jale

Jale were a poppy, post-grunge indie rock band from Halifax, Nova Scotia who I once saw open for L7. I remember them best for the fact that after the show I met bassist Laura Stein in the crowd and she, along with a nice, bubbly lady whose name I've forgotten but who worked for Sub Pop, got us into L7's aftershow party.
There we met all of L7 bar drummer Dee, along with Page Hamilton from hardcore band Helmet and Alex Winter, of Bill & Ted fame. I told him that Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure was one of my all-time favourite movies and he humoured us by introducing us to Hamilton and talking all things "excellent" for a while. What a cool guy. And it was all down to Jale, a fantastic Sub Pop-signed band whose debut, Dreamcake, and its follow-up, So Wound, still sound pretty damn good today. As for the lovely Laura Stein (the girl at the forefront of the above photo with the necklace), apparently she went on to play keyboards in the Pernice Brothers and ended up marrying Joe Pernice.
Anyway, here's their cool 1994 video for Not Happy. It's looks very early 90s-alternative, I love it.
